I appreciate the bridge. The rail bridge right now isn't the safest, and a new bridge would be useful. I also appreciate the Balsam Poplar trees immediately South of the railbridge. We have been watching them grow and would be sad to see them destroyed. Community trees in the ward have been consistently destroyed in the past few years without new trees being replanted. If one of the goals of the project is to "protect and enhance the environment", then I would like to see that actualized. Perhaps a community tree planting day as part of the opening of the bridge? Planting local species, appropriate for the habitat, and well suited to the surroundings. Some things I would hope the city would consider while going forward with this useful and needed project.
