Hello Chuck
I'm sorry for the delay in responding, I was just transitioning into a new role on this project and your question got missed in the process. Please accept my apologies.
The short answer is Yes!
We are working closely with the Downtown Business Association (DGBA) to make sure that their major events can move forward during construction with power and spaces for the vendors, performances and activities.
We've also worked closely with the DGBA and other event presenters in Guelph to make sure there is power, water and space for existing and new event uses including road closures during events.
One of the goals of the project is to ensure the Downtown core can be used for a variety of event purposes. While events such as Christmas markets, Art on the Street, and other festivals are initiated by private entities, the City is committed to enabling innovative new ideas to keep downtown vibrant. The infrastructure being built will provide the necessary services to allow for all kinds of events to take place.
Will there be capacity for hydro service throughout Wyndham St to support vendors during markets or festivals?

Go to the project
Can vendors set up booths and plug in when we have Christmas markets or Art on the Street, or other uses we could come up with? What about enough power for a stage setup, and supporting tents? What about having booths/shops all along Wyndham and Quebec during the summer to open up the downtown for a fully pedestrianized downtown?
