Alice and Huron Traffic Calming Project

Alice Street and Huron Street are being prioritized for traffic calming plans because they were designated as Community Safety Zones by Guelph City Council.

We will design and implement physical traffic calming measures that help drivers travel at the posted speed and reduce the severity of collisions on these streets.

Proposed traffic calming measures on Alice Street and Huron Street include curb extensions, curb extensions with yield points, speed tables, a modal filter, school house pavement markings, curb radii reductions, and bollards. Have a look at the boards from the open house to see the proposed traffic calming plans including project timelines and what measures are proposed for each street.

Local knowledge such as drainage concerns, informal crossing locations, or notable street features are especially valuable. These fine-grained details help City staff better understand on-the-ground conditions to develop more effective, well-informed final designs.

Alice Street

Further east is another curb extension with a yield to oncoming traffic. At the Huron Street intersection, existing features include a stop sign and a ladder crosswalk.

Huron Street
