Phases
Planning
Thanks to everyone who had submitted over 70 ideas and plans for celebrating with us!
The community shared ideas for everything from:
- celebrating the history and heritage of Guelph through plaques, events and tours
- bringing community together with parades, sporting events, festivals and concerts
- giving back to the land we call Guelph by enhancing our green spaces, trails and riverfronts
- marking the occasion with public art and placemaking that will live on over the years
- taking the opportunity to advance reconciliation with thoughtful place names and spaces that recognize and reflect Indigenous peoples, their rights, community and culture, and
- exploring ways to leave a legacy of this generation in Guelph through time capsules, major city-wide projects and restoration work.
We have now closed the survey to formally collect ideas, but don't let that stop you. If you have an idea or interest in how we celebrate Guelph's Bicentennial in 2027, please reach out to the team at culture@guelph.ca.
As we get closer to 2027, we will really ramp up our efforts. Watch the Guelph200 page on our website to stay on top of the celebration plans and the great work being done from here on in by the Bicentennial Working Group.
