river and trees during winter

Emma to Earl Bridge

About the project

We have completed the detailed design for this new pedestrian and cycling bridge that will bring tangible active transportation and environmental benefits to our local community. Construction will start in early 2025. Our goal is to make it easier to walk and bike in Guelph while ensuring important environmental restoration work in the Speed River is completed. The bridge will provide an accessible walking and cycling route across the Speed River and will connect to the Downtown Trail.

How to participate

In fall of 2023, we asked you for your input on the top two design concepts and heard from over 500 people. Based on your feedback we chose to proceed with the steel girder bridge design. Please review the engagement summary to review the results. Thank you so much for your feedback.

As we look to construction of the bridge, we want to offer the opportunity to ask questions and provide comments on the upcoming work. Review the information package and bridge images and if you have any questions up to and during construction please ask below.

Please note: This project began in an older version of our website. Some of the tools and information may appear different than originally designed.
