Urban Forest Management Plan
The Urban Forest Management Plan (UFMP) provides strategic guidance over 20 years (2013-2032) to implement key recommendations carried out in four five-year management plans. The five-year plans help us evaluate our work, improving our policies and practices by learning from our outcomes. So far, we’ve completed one of the four five-year plans and we’re getting ready to report to Council on:
- The state of the urban forest
- Work we have completed
- What we’re still working on
- The effectiveness of the UFMP – how we are doing
- Any changes in recommendations

We want to hear what you think about how we’re managing Guelph’s urban forest and how the UFMP can continue to be effective as Guelph grows.

Phases
Consultations
The Tree Team (internal stakeholders) and the Urban Forest Working Group (external stakeholders) meet three or four times per year, and are an important communication mechanism from interest-holders to the City, and from the City to the community of interest. Additionally, the community, including the general-public, development community, and other relevant experts, had been included for development of various new and ongoing initiatives in 2018.
