The end of people feeling reliant on their personal vehicle.

No harassment, homophobia or racist remarks as I walk minding my own business!

That drivers would obey the speed limits, not run red lights or turn corners while pedestrians are walking across streets when the pedestrian light is on!

Safe, connected routes to cycle and walk across the City. Let's make bold changes to allow kids to bike to school safely and for people to be able to walk and cycle to work, downtown or to grocery stores without the fear of being killed.

... not being yelled at by drivers while cycling
... not being called a homophobic slur while cycling
... motorists correctly understanding the rules of the road (many motorists seem ignorant of the fact that cyclists are allowed to take up as much as the lane as they need to, or they suggest cyclists use sidewalks even though that's illegal)
... regular remedial training for motorists (as many don't seem to understand the rules of the road)
... motorists wouldn't be calling for a ban on bikes on roads (!)
... motorists realizing they're the danger, and taking responsibility for that
... the City of Guelph would stop constructing bike lanes that merge with sidewalks (e.g. Clair/Victoria, York/Wyndham)
... the City of Guelph prioritizing enforcement against two tonne vehicles going 70kmph, not cyclists and pedestrians. Based on a FOI request, Bylaw never wrote any tickets for motorists blocking Gordon at McDonald's. GPS failed to respond to the request in the required time.
... tickets for motorists running left turns on red lights
... more cyclists and pedestrians on the streets and fewer cars, not "freely flowing traffic"

Safe pedestrian and cycling infrastructure for myself and my kids.

Prioritizing the protection of our most vulnerable users over the convenience of our most dangerous.

Respecting with kindness all other users of the roadway.

more bike lanes and bike paths! more access to public transportation!
slowing down traffic everywhere possible inside the city.
more people on bike/public transportation/walking/alternative modes of transportation does not mean a war on cars, it benefits everyone to not have to depend on cars to get anywhere.
Less cars = more freedom for everyone!!

Streets where children can safely play, walk, and bike around their community without parents terrified of them being hit by a car.

Crossing guards near elementary schools

Wider streets or more multi-use paths, less street parking, more visibility around corners
Less distracted driving, more (sensible) speed enforcement
Changing the language around the signs. Cars should stop for pedestrians at cross walks, not the other way around.

PV 12 days ago

Freely flowing traffic. Remove all the visual distractions for drivers. Stop adding more blocks in the lanes, poles, etc that overload Guelph’s roads.

BG 12 days ago

Freely flowing traffic.

Make proper bike lanes physically separated from traffic and interconnected throughout the city.

Bike lanes 12 days ago

Bikes should only be allowed to ride in bike lanes. If there's no bike lanes on the road then bikes should not be allowed on the roads, period!!
Bikes should not be allowed to ride side by side either.
DELIVERY VEHICLES should not be allowed to stop in the middle of the roads on side streets or on main streets EVER!!!!!! This causes so much traffic congestion and stress for the drivers behind it.
All in all there's too many people in guelph and there's not enough space!!!

Ultimate Safe streets look like bikes and walking having their own dedicated lanes, raised higher than, or divided from main travel traffic.

Cathy Kelly 12 days ago

A respite from the endless stream of cars. A break from the aggression of drivers and their belching engines. A chance for peace, to walk outside and not worry about being hit by a car.

HFowlie 13 days ago

Everyone following all the rules and enforcement for those who don't. Red light cameras are OK with me.

SCM 13 days ago

Less distractions, less colored lanes, less multiple lights, removal of the oversized blocks at many right turn lanes, allowing cycles on non busy sidewalks in heavy vehicle traffic areas.
