Speedvale Avenue West infrastructure improvements and new multi-use path - Elmira Road North to Imperial Road North
The City of Guelph is hosting a virtual open house to present plans for the Speedvale Avenue West infrastructure improvements project. This includes the construction of a new multi-use path and the installation of underground water and sewer pipes on Speedvale Avenue West from Elmira Road North to Imperial Road North.
About the project
Speedvale Avenue West will be reduced to one lane in each direction from Elmira Road North to Imperial Road North. Some short-term road closures and controlled access to businesses can also be expected during the project.
Construction includes the installation of new storm sewer and water pipes, a new multi-use path, curb and gutter, and final repaving.
Construction is expected to begin in spring 2022 and be completed by fall 2022.
This is your opportunity to review the presentation, project information, and construction plans, and to ask questions about the project including traffic impacts and property access. From Monday, October 25 to Friday, November 12, 2021, at 4 p.m., provide your comments and ask questions below. Our team members are also available by email or phone from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday if you prefer to contact us directly.

Thank you for your post. Transit will be engaged throughout the project to ensure that buses using Speedvale Avenue, Imperial Road North, and Elmira Road North are able to continue operating effectively. Any planned detour routes will be advertised ahead of time to ensure that no one misses their stop.

The Multi-Use Path is being constructed on the north side of Speedvale Avenue West between Elmira Road North and Imperial Road North to help facilitate pedestrian and cyclist traffic to the businesses on the north side of the road. Plans for a multi-use path on the south side of the roadway are being included in the City's Transportation Plan, however the south side of the roadway is outside of the scope of this project.
