We want to hear from restaurant, bar and small business owners, local special events and festival planners, and small business owners and entrepreneurs in Guelph to share your stories and thoughts about the future of tourism in our community.

The City is creating a sustainable source of funds through the Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) to support Guelph-based tourism entrepreneurs. We want you to share what you need from the City to help with economic recovery after two years of impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic. We want to know how we can best support businesses to get more people visiting, shopping, and eating at local businesses.

Implementing the MAT is an early outcome of the 2022-2026 Economic Development and Tourism Strategy, and supports the goal of building “a must-see visitor destination in Ontario.”

How to participate

There are a few ways you can participate. Each tool asks different questions, so we encourage you to check out both.

  1. Using the ideas tool below for your sector, provide some thoughts on how we can best support you to become part of a thriving tourist destination.
  2. Complete the survey below to provide some in-depth answers to crucial questions about creating conditions for success for local businesses.
