Consultation has concluded
The City of Guelph is updating the Waste Management Bylaw to ensure it:
- Improves overall service efficiency and delivery;
- Meets new multi-residential waste collection needs;
- Removes references to the old manual bagged waste collection system, and
- Aligns with the recommendations of the Solid Waste Resources business service review.
The bylaw review will suggest updates to the following parts of the bylaw:
- Definitions
- Multi-residential waste collection
- Waste cart sizes
- Materials permitted in the green cart (e.g. grass clippings)
- Industrial, commercial, institutional (ICI) waste collection
- Waste collection from facilities that generate biomedical waste
In addition to the bylaw update, we will also use the survey to gather feedback and consider updates to existing waste services, including:
- Public drop-off hours of operation
- Household Hazardous Waste Depot hours of operation
- Curbside bagged yard waste collection
- Curbside collection of grass clippings
