Consultation has concluded

The City of Guelph is updating the Waste Management Bylaw to ensure it:

  • Improves overall service efficiency and delivery;
  • Meets new multi-residential waste collection needs;
  • Removes references to the old manual bagged waste collection system, and
  • Aligns with the recommendations of the Solid Waste Resources business service review.

The bylaw review will suggest updates to the following parts of the bylaw:

  • Definitions
  • Multi-residential waste collection
  • Waste cart sizes
  • Materials permitted in the green cart (e.g. grass clippings)
  • Industrial, commercial, institutional (ICI) waste collection
  • Waste collection from facilities that generate biomedical waste

In addition to the bylaw update, we will also use the survey to gather feedback and consider updates to existing waste services, including:

    Waste management bylaw survey

    Welcome to the City of Guelph, Solid Waste Resources, online survey. The City is updating the Waste Management Bylaw, and we would like to hear from you by completing this brief questionnaire which should take you five minutes or less.

    The Bylaw is being updated to include:

    • existing practices;

    • accommodate the expanded multi-residential collection program;

    • remove references to the manual collection system that no longer apply;

    • include the City’s Waste Resource Innovation Centre operations not currently captured or supported in the bylaw.
