About the project

This is the fourth and final phase of the York Road Reconstruction project. In this final phase we are reconstructing York Road, from Victoria Road South the eastern city boundary this includes replacing aging sewer and water pipes and making necessary improvement to the road.

Phase four is further divided into three stages:

  • Stage 1 - Watson Parkway to the east city limit (2025)
  • Stage 2 - Victoria Road South to Industrial Street (2026/2027)
  • Stage 3 - Industrial Street to Watson Parkway (2028)

Stage 1 is expected to begin in May 2025 and to complete in November 2025 with the final road surface paving to happen in the spring of 2026. As with any construction project this schedule can be affected by contractor schedules, weather and any unforeseen issues that are sometimes encountered during construction.

Scope of reconstruction

The reconstruction of York Road in Stage 1 involves the following work:

  • Installation of curb and gutter between Watson Parkway and Watson Road;
  • Intersection improvements, including the addition or expansion of turning lanes;
  • Replacement of driveway aprons;
  • Installation of a storm sewer and stormwater management infrastructure, such as infiltration ponds in the boulevard;
  • Improving the existing sanitary sewer, with some replacements of existing sanitary maintenance holes and service connections;
  • New watermains; and,
  • Boulevard landscaping.

Full information about the project, the timelines, impacts and our strategies to mitigate those impacts is available in this information package.
